What is window
film?
Window film is a transparent plastic film which is applied to automotive
or flat glass windows for one or more of four purposes: privacy,
heat or light rejection, security or graphic design.
How does film reduce fading?
To understand the causes of fading, one must know a little about
the makeup of sunlight.
Sunlight is basically made of three elements:
| * |
Visible light - the part that we 'see' |
| * |
Infra Red - the part which we 'feel' as heat |
| * |
Ultraviolet light - which we neither
see nor feel but is the main factor in causing fabrics and
furnishings to fade. Ultraviolet absorbers are used to stop
UV at the film. The type, amount, and location of the absorbers
in the product determine the film's ability to reduce fading.
Absorbers that are located in the adhesive only (blocking
95%-98%) instead of the film itself (blocking over 99%)
are far less stable and enduring. All of our solar control
products absorb more than 99% of the UV rays.
Miscellaneous - interior artificial lighting,
dye anchorage, and humidity
| Facts
about Fading "As a Rule of Thumb" |
Laboratory
studies of a large variety of fabrics and woods show
significant differences in the color stability of
these products. Fabric fading results differ depending
upon fiber type, dye, color, stability, and/or pattern
printing techniques. Expensive fabrics are not necessarily
aguarantee of fade protaction. |
 |
Natural wood finishes are much more stable
than stains or finishes that alter the natural color of
the wood. Wood may actually darken with prolong exposure
to UV rather than fade to a lighter color. The nature of
certain delicate fabrics and dyes will lead to remature
fading regardless of the application of any window film
or protective treatment.

Why I need Unique window film?
Automotive glass (except windshields) and ordinary architectural
glass found in homes and offices only protect occupants from UVB
rays. It has been found that UVA rays have detrimental effects
on humans such as premature aging of the skin, cancers of the
skin and eye disease such as cataracts and age related and macular
degeneration. Unique provides 99.9% UVA and UVB protection.
Why would someone want Unique instead
of conventional glass tinting?
Many individuals do not like a 'tinted appearance'. They are afraid
they will not be able to see out and prefer a clear appearance
on their vehicle. Unique at 70% visible light transmission (front
windscreen) & 50% visible light transmission (side & rear
windscreen) on glass provides a virtually clear appearance in
cars.
Does Unique provide the same degree
of solar protection as darker tinting films?
No, because Unique has such a high light transmission it does
not provide the heat and glare reduction of darker (20%, 35%,
etc.) glass tinting. However, many of the darker tinting films
are only colored films and does not offer any sort of heat rejection.
Will Unique prevent my vehicle interior
from fading?
No film product prevents fading entirely. Fading is a chemical
reaction to a combination of heat, light and ultraviolet. While
Unique will reduce fading and interior damage, no product eliminates
fading.
What is the waranty on the film?
We provide a manufacturer's 10 years warranty to the original
owner of the vehicle against cracking, peeling and bubbling. The
ultraviolet absorbing properties of the film may change very slightly
over the lifetime of the film depending on atmospheric conditions.
Individuals with medical conditions and UV sensitivity should
have their film checked after 7 years by an authorized Unique
dealer to ascertain any change, which they feel may be detrimental.
The warranty does not cover replacement for UV absorbency changes.
What kind of warranty comes with the
film?
We provide a manufacturer's 10 years warranty to replace any defective
product for free. If there is a problem, just bring your car and
warranty card with an explanation of the manufacturing defect
to any Unique dealer from cost to cost and it will be replaced
at no charge to you. However, the replacement policy applies only
to manufacturing defects for which we are responsible.
How should I clean my window after
the film is applied?
Windows with film applied are easily cleaned without damage to
their appearance as long as a few common-sense guidelines are
followed:
1. Use a soft clean cloth, soft paper towel, or clean synthetic
sponge.
2. Use a soft cloth or squeegee for dyiong the window.
3. Use any normal glass cleaning solution which contains no abrasive
materials.
Why does Unique cost more than some
of the traditional films?
Because it is difficult to make a high light transmission product
with such a high level of UV absorbers and still maintain good
optical clarity.
